Cream Birmigham – Review, ‘S-Man’ - Welovedjs..net - News Reviews And Everything About Your Disc Jockey

Last Saturday, a warehouse in the back streets of Birmingham played host to a club night that seems to go from strength to strength. Past shows have celebrated the crème de la crème of house music, alongside some of the hottest young talent from the house and techno scene. This last show was no exception. Cream Birmingham casually dropped their headline act ‘S-Man’ back last November, after their 9th Birthday celebration. WeLove how the team in Birmingham consistently deliver a diverse and well heeled line-up at each event, lest we forget that the previous event had Defected boss, Morillo!

The first few hours were curated by 2 of the residents, Mike Catherall and Rue Jay, who as usual, delivered the perfect soundtrack to prepare for the house onslaught that was lying dormant back stage…

Bontan was first to take control! The North-West based DJ began slow and built on his dubby-house sounds. Dropping ‘Live My Life’, he took the ever-expanding crowd on a journey, preparing them for the man of the hour. Roger Sanchez.

Roger-Sanchez

From hustling records in the West Village and Brooklyn Heights, to holding residencies within Ibiza’s iconic cathedrals, Roger has done it all. His set at Cream Birmingham delivered on every level! Sanchez was simply amazing. No more. Just amazing. WeLove how Sanchez’s sets resonate his love of his ‘Mother-Tongue’ – New York House! His set was peppered with sexy vocals creating a synthetic harmony against the soulful rhythm of techy beats that have become synonymous with house music. Absolute fucking class!! Sanchez was and will remain one of the greatest demons behind the decks. There are no more words!

In addition to this, there was the small issue of a terrace.

The Rainbow Venues clearly have dug deep into their multi-coloured pockets and spent some cash! The terrace now resembles something that wouldn’t be out of place in L.A or Ibiza. To compliment this ‘face-lift’, Cream Birmingham placed Ibizan Veteran Danny Rampling at the helm! Cream veterans Seb Fontaine and Tall Paul joined Rampling on the terrace, to deliver a true experience of the Cream ethos.

Cream Birmingham delivered a stellar line-up and an equally impressive night. The crowd were amazing; they were treated to House Royalty in both arenas and responded with their feet! Familiar sounds entwined with a cacophonous mixture of vocal/tech/dub/synth tracks, ensured that this event made the house faithful remember who delivers their house! Jack? No. Cream!

Summer approaches and with it the Ibiza Carnival. As we go to press, we have no listing as of yet. BUT. If the last couple of events are anything to go by, WeWill not be displeased!
