Last night Cream Birmingham threw open the doors to the Lab11 in Birmingham to welcome their annual Ibiza Carnival. We are still buzzing from what we experienced. If you have not been to Lab11, you really need to go and see what the fuss is all about, from its industrial brick cavernous main room, complete with state of the art Function 1 sound system and a lighting system that wouldn’t look out of place in Berghain, to its incredible terrace that sits underneath a Victorian aqueduct, it provided Cream with The Perfect backdrop for its annual Ibiza shindig.

The sun was shining and it brought along happy smiling people, we can honestly say that the crowd at yesterdays event was one of the happiest, up for it bunch we have seen in a long while! WeLoveYou. The terrace kicked off the afternoon closely followed by the Space room. Residents provided the soundtrack to the early faithful, who were treated to a mixture of Balearic beats and tech-house snipers!

The DJ’s on rotation delivered on all levels. WeDidn’t manage to get round to all sets but! WeNeed to take our hats off to a few, Harry White’s set was brilliant and had the benefit of the beautiful late afternoon sun which added that extra touch to the terrace, Brolo’s set literally tore the terrace a new one, his mixing was on point and through his epic 3 hour set, he laid the perfect base for Cream Resident’s Mike Catherall and George Kafetzis sets to prepare the thumping crowd for the main event; 99 Souls, Tough Love and David Morales. You rarely get a line-up like this, and boy did they deliver!!! The 99’s were outstanding, thundering out a concoction of house, dub and tech-house tracks. Tough Love took hold of the baton and ran and ran with it, the crowd were lapping it up. Then the main man himself, Mr Morales stepped up. When a legend, such as Morales graces the decks you dance. And the Lab did just that. His 2-hour performance was a journey through house, dropping his own ‘Needin’ U’, literally sent the crowd into a frenzy. WeLoveDavid.

Over in the Space room, ANËK spent their time behind the decks thrashing out tech-house bombs from the start to the bitter end, the beautiful Copenhagen duo were fucking amazing! They tested the very limits of the Lab’s sound system and served up a jet-black polished chrome smorgasbord of techno! WeLoveANËK! If that wasn’t enough? David Glass treated the audience to a performance that left you wondering where you left your head. He was incredible.

Meanwhile over in room 3, Mambo was throwing it’s own special magic at the carnival with the sublime Jason Bye holding court, joined by Danny Whitehead, the arena was bouncing along to the very best in Ibiza vibes. WeLoveMambo.

Cream Birmingham has become a staple of the clubbing calendar, this party was one of the best we have attended, hats off to Freedom Security, who once again provided the friendliest and most efficient door team we have come across, thank you. WeCan’t wait to get our invite to the next instalment of the #CreamBirmingham story.
