OK…So England are out of the World Cup and the last thing you probably want to here, is anything to do with Brazil? Right? Wrong! Aside from the obvious, and mojitos, the land of the bossa nova (look it up and send answers on a postcard), has a history of producing outstanding music.  With influences from Africa and Europe, Brazil honed it’s own style of music, that is revered the world over.

The country celebrates it’s music through it’s annual Rio Carnival as well as other regional Carnivals.  Possibly one of the biggest exports of the country is Samba!  The music of the girating hips and Cuban heels demonstrates the power of music and it’s influences on our culture.

Drawing on the tribal influences from Africa and the deep base sounds from Germany, one DJ has carved her own niche on the tech house scene.  WeLoveDJs would like to introduce you to DJ Anna.

At the age of 15 she was already making a name for herself on the music scene, working at local clubs.  Since those humble beginnings, and with releases on Toolroom, Tronic, kraftek and Bla Bla, Anna is now an international DJ.  Her trademark deep driving tech sound, has earned her support from the likes of Carl Cox, Brazil’s First Lady of Techno seems unstoppable and her army of dedicated followers ensure that each gig she plays, be it at Säo Paulo’s legendary D-Edge or the Berlin monster Berghain, are full to the rafters.

There are not many female DJ’s on the scene, (we point blank refuse to acknowledge that hotelier as a DJ before any of you comment), but we feel that they need more acknowledgement and praise!  So, if you can get to see them, do!  Magda, Tania, Tini, Anna, Maya, Ellen, Miss Kittin, Heidi, Hannah, we salute you!
